Our Water Heater Repair
You probably don’t think it makes sense to replace your water heater when it seems to be working fine, but water heaters often fail when you least expect it. That’s because most people overlook the minor issues that signal your water heater is failing until it’s too late.
Here are the most common signs that your water heater may be on its last legs.
Age
The average life expectancy of a water heater is between 10 and 15 years, and you may squeeze out a few more with routine maintenance. However, once your system reaches the last quarter of its life, it’s time to plan on replacing it before it gives up the ghost.
Leaking Water Heater
As part of your home maintenance chores, it’s good to inspect your water heater for signs of water leaks at least once a month.
If you notice a leak, check to determine if it’s a loose connection or coming from the tank itself. If it’s the latter, the tank is about to fail, and you must replace it soon.
Rusty or Cloudy Water
Another common warning sign of a water heater in danger is if you get rusty or cloudy water from the hot water tap. Rust-colored water typically indicates the tank’s lining is rusting, causing flakes to break off and fall into the water. The presence of cloudy water usually signifies that you have a bacteria problem.
Lack of Hot Water
If you’re not getting the amount of hot water as before or can’t get the desired temperature, several factors could cause it, including sediment buildup or heating element failure.
Odd Noises
Popping or knocking sounds coming from your water heater is another symptom of sediment buildup. Once these deposits form and take hold, they wreak havoc in your system and will cause failure without proper maintenance.
If your water heater isn’t working as well as before, call us for an inspection.
